Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups Roth Grand Cru® cheese, finely shredded (about 1 (6-oz) wedge)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
- 1 teaspoon granulated onion
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 loaf of Italian or French bread
- Parsley, minced, for garnish (optional)
Method
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
- Grate cheese as fine as possible, using a microplane, if available, for a very fine shred.
- In a food processor, mix butter, 1/4 cup shredded cheese, fresh garlic, Italian seasoning, granulated garlic & onion, red pepper flakes, salt, black pepper, and olive oil. Blend until smooth.
- Using a bread knife, slice bread into roughly 1-inch thick slices, NOT cutting all the way through the bread. Use a butter knife to generously spread butter mixture between each slice. Use a basting brush to brush the top of the bread with residual butter. Add remaining shredded cheese in between each slice of bread.
- Wrap the bread completely in aluminum foil, and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes, then open the top of the foil, and bake another 5 minutes. Remove from the oven, and sprinkle parsley over the top, and serve warm.
