These cheesy meatballs are made with a combination of ground beef and herbs, then baked in marinara sauce and topped with creamy Havarti for a savory and flavorful dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (can use half pork as well)
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ¼ cup yellow onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon basil, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 25 oz marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded Roth Creamy Havarti cheese

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, whisked egg, milk, onion, parsley, basil, garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Gently mix until well combined.
  3. Using a 1.5 oz cookie scoop, portion the meat mixture and roll it into 12 meatballs.
  4. Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the meatballs and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned.
  5. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside. Wipe down the skillet.
  6. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in the skillet, then return the meatballs. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the meatballs and top with shredded Havarti cheese.
  7. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly around the edges.
  8. Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
