These cheesy meatballs are made with a combination of ground beef and herbs, then baked in marinara sauce and topped with creamy Havarti for a savory and flavorful dish.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (can use half pork as well)
- ¼ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg, whisked
- ¼ cup milk
- ¼ cup yellow onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon basil, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 25 oz marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded Roth Creamy Havarti cheese
Method
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, whisked egg, milk, onion, parsley, basil, garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Gently mix until well combined.
- Using a 1.5 oz cookie scoop, portion the meat mixture and roll it into 12 meatballs.
- Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the meatballs and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned.
- Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside. Wipe down the skillet.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in the skillet, then return the meatballs. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the meatballs and top with shredded Havarti cheese.
- Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly around the edges.
- Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
