This hearty pizza combines the savory flavors of beer-brats and smoked Gouda with sweet, caramelized onions. It’s a delicious twist on traditional pizza that’s perfect for a casual dinner or game day.
Ingredients
- 2 bratwursts
- 2 light beers
- 1/2 yellow onion, finely sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp oil
- 12 oz Smoked Gouda, shredded
- 1/2 cup white or red pizza sauce
- 2 small thin pizza crusts (store-bought or homemade)
Method
- Pour beer into a small pot and add the bratwursts. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer until cooked through, about 20 minutes. Remove brats and let cool slightly before slicing.
- While the brats are cooking, melt butter in a pan over medium-low heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the cooked bratwursts and fry until browned. Remove from heat and slice.
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Place pizza dough on a baking sheet. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, then top with shredded Smoked Gouda, caramelized onions, and sliced bratwursts.
- Bake for 13-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and starts to brown on the edges.
